The Verge initially reported that HP’s core webOS Enyo team was defecting to Google. This is the group that developed the HTML5 framework featured on webOS, which was much lauded.
However, the defections may not be entirely true. In a blog post, the Enyo team stated that,” It’s true that some key members of the Enyo team have left the company, but the majority of the engineering and leadership team remains.” The team further “clarified” that the development of Enyo will continue and the Enyo tam is even expanding,”..not just to replace the engineers who have left, but to increase the size of the team going forward.”
In an update to it’s initial report, The Verge added that the man in charge of the Enyo project– Matt McNulty, will be among the departing crew. It also cites “sources” as saying the team members that have defected to Google are “responsible for 99 percent of the code.”
