Grand Theft Auto III 10 year anniversary version for iOS and Android devices

Rockstar Games has announced that it will be re-releasing Grand Theft Auto III on iOS and Android supported devices on December 15th.  The 10 year anniversary version will be available next week for just $4.99 in Apple and Android’s respective app store.

Players will be able to take their games with them on their phones as it will be able to run on iPhone 4 and 4S as well as the 4th generation of iPod touches. But if you’ve got an Android device don’t worry, the game can be played on a multitude of android devices such as the HTC Rezound, LG Optimus 2x, Motorola Atrix 4G, Motorola Droid X2, Motorola Photon 4G, Samsung Galaxy R, and T-Mobile G2x.

And tablets you ask? Well Grand Theft Auto III will run on both iPads (1 and 2) as well as many android powered tablet like Acer Iconia, Asus Eee Pad Transformer, Dell Streak 7, LG Optimus Pad, Motorola Xoom, Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 or 10.1, the Sony Tablet S, and the Toshiba Thrive.

Grand Theft Auto celebrated its 10th year anniversary in October. The game which was originally released on the Play Station 2 in 2001 has become one of Rockstar Games’ greatest hits. It is set in Liberty City (inspired by New York City) and has been one of the most influential open world games.

The Grand Theft Auto franchise has sold over 114 million copies worldwide. Rockstar Games also announced a 5th game coming out that takes players back to Los Santos, a city based off of Los Angeles.
