Studios getting bought up for development is a pretty common thing in the industry, so much so that it usually really isn't all that newsworthy when it happens. However, when you get Zenimax Media and Shinji Mikami, two names synonmous with creating high-quality titles together, well folks, that becomes newsworthy and even some cause for celebration.
For those of you who aren't aware who either of these groups are Shinji Mikami has been involved in Final Fantasy, Devil May Cry, Viewtiful Joe, and most recently Vanquish along with being the creator of the Resident Evil series. Zenimax Studios encompasses Bethesda Softworks and iD software, the development houses behind the Fallout and Quake series respectively.
The two will be working together in a deal inked today which puts Tango Gameworks, Mikami's newly founded studio, under the banner of Bethesda Softworks. The Japanese producer will run Tango and be the creative head for all future projects, a fact which bodes well for gamers across the world.
