AMD Radeon™ R9 295X2 Released

Radeon-R9-WaterCooler-StandardAngle360wAMD after facing some backlash on their reference r9 290x cards with high thermals and fan noise, AMD has delivered something to quell those concerns. AMD has now released some of the specs of their new flagship desktop graphics card dubbed the R9 295X2 featuring :

11.5 TFLOPS

1018 MHz core clock

5632 stream processors

8GB memory

512-bit memory interface x 2

Dual liquid-cooled AMD Radeon™ GPUs

Asetek closed-loop liquid cooling featuring a 120mm radiator and fan.

500W power consumption

With the addition of the Asetek closed-loop liquid coolers the woes of having a loud crossfire R9 290x setup is over.  It will be the first graphics card to come from the factory with a liquid cooler.   I’m quite surprised that only a 120mm radiator and fan can cool the power hungry GPUs.   All together with liquid cooling and 2 r9 290x chips on the PCB, this is one monster of a card and at a $1499 price tag, it should be.  My concerns would be the 500W power consumption, and the fact non reference R9 290x cards can be had in 2x crossfire for less.   However, if you want it the $1499 R9 295X2 will fuel power your 4K gaming graphics.
