Apple is known to reject apps it doesn’t like. Google Voice was one that had a very long approval process. Their latest rejection is however much different than Google’s Voice app– it’s an app that tracks US drone strikes around the world.
According to the developer, the Drones+ app has been rejected twice. The first time for being “Not Useful or Entertaining Enough” and the second for being “Objectionable.”
Why this app has really been blocked is unclear. It does not depict the strikes visually and provides useful information regarding locations where you might avoid being collateral damage. Perhaps the fear is that enemies may use the information and avoid being near locations previously attacked or that the attacks may give away some strategy. Still, the information going into the app is accessible online anyway so Apple’s point seems moot.
