Wii U’s GamePad and Fighting Games Apparently Don’t Go Together

Nintendo’s upcoming console, the Wii U hasn’t been discussed too much lately. The producer of the popular fighting game franchise Tekken, Katsuhiro Harada however has said in a magazine interview with Eurogamer that the Wii U’s GamePad controller isn’t a good fit with Namco-Bandai Games’s upcoming Tekken Tag Tournament 2. The problem stems from the fact that players would have to look at both the GamePad’s screen and the television screen.

Harada stated that when Tekken Tag Tournament 2 releases on the Wii U, it’ll use the GamePad in a way that won’t divert attention from players while they’re busy beating up the game’s diverse cast of characters. This means that you can expect to be able to navigate through menus or have some special features that make it easier to play or even be able to play the entire game on the GamePad.

Tekken Tag Tournament 2 is scheduled to release on September 11, 2012 on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The Wii U version’s release date has yet to be announced. For more information on the Wii U, visit its official site at http://www.nintendo.com/wiiu/.
