Google released a Gmail app for the iOS two weeks ago. Unfortunately, that app had an error with the push notification support and Google had to pull it from the Apple app store. After two weeks of testing it is once again available in the app store.
“Two weeks ago, we introduced our Gmail app for iOS. Unfortunately it contained a bug which broke notifications and displayed an error message, so we removed it from the App Store,” Matthew Izatt, a Google product manager, wrote in a blog post. “We’ve fixed the bug and notifications are now working, and the app is back in the App Store.”
Gmail for iOS still doesn’t support multiple accounts and still fails to host email on the user’s device but apparently these issues will be worked out in the near future. The app is optimized for the iPhone and the iPad, and requires iOS 4.0 or later. It is also free at the app store.
