Sony Enters Third Party Game Development?

Matthew Torino May 12, 2011 0

Sony is getting into third party video game making for Nintendo systems. According to some investigative reporting by journalists more intrepid than I, Sony will officially be venturing into third party game development and publishing.

Simon LF TEST 4/7 PSSuite has been rated by the ESRB for the Nintendo DS, DSi, Wii, PS3 and Playstation certified device which could possibly be the NGP.

Sony could possibly be going third party as a hedge in case this PSN scandal causes gamers out there to completely distrust Sony and make their next console bomb, ending their time in the home console business a la Sega with the Dreamcast.

This is unlikely and just probably just a savvy move for Sony in a market they aren’t currently present in. Though it’s still strange since the PlayStation Move is competing with the Wii and the NGP will be competing with the 3DS and DS itself.
It’s a very strange situation for Sony that may just be a mistake by the ESRB but you never do know.
