While the Samsung Galaxy S II was supposed to come out in relatively short order, probably by the end of April or early May at the latest, Samsung has decided to upgrade the phone's dual core processor to 1.2 GHz from 1 GHz. So what does this have to do with the release? Unfortunately for those who have been anxiously awaiting this phone's arrival, this probably means that the release date is going to be pushed back at least a month according to Samsung India's Twitter account. UK retailers are now listing the phone at a May 6th release date, the earliest possible with this delay, but as Samsung India tweeted, it won't be launched for at least a month and most likely won't be released until June at the earliest. Fortunately, if the phone does hit shelves at this time, since the iPhone 5 will likely be delayed until the Fall of 2011, there will be less competition and the Samsung S II will be the headline of newly released phones for at least a while.
