Sports Gaming Digest 7/5

Matthew Torino July 6, 2010 0

Here's the newest edition of the Sports Gaming Digest after a couple weeks hiatus due to my laziness/forgetting. But we have actual news this week ranging from some Madden and NBA items to NCAA. Our advance NCAA review will be available at the end of the week. But in the meantime, here's this week's sports gaming news.

EA has agreed to send us a copy of NCAA Football 11 for Xbox 360 which I should have in hand tomorrow with the embargo on information lifted when we can post the review at the end of the week. Nothing gets out before then unfortunately.

If anybody cares, EA released a Madden blog on lighting. Oh boy. Here it is

In other Madden news, EA has released the 10 highest rated players at each position. Operation Sports has the breakdown.

UFC sales have completely fallen off the cliff. Sales for the first month were less than half a million total as compared to over 1 million sold for the first edition of the game. Maybe UFC's going back to a niche audience a la NASCAR, but a 59% dropoff isn't good.

Pastapadre has NBA jerseys of LeBron James from the NBA series based on where he could go. Hopefully the Knickerbockers.

Madden now has an Old Spice Swagger rating. No really. It apparently just affects how likely the players are to celebrate though. Hopefully the teams won't go crazy after every first down anymore.

A 2K sports executive said NBA Elite looked "awful." That's very mature especially since they've never actually seen anything beyond promotional videos. Also, Kevin Durant has been named the inaugural Elite coverman, not Brandon Jennings as we suspected.

The EA MMA cover athlete, Fedor Emelianenko lost his latest fight, hurting the publicity of the game. Any publicity is good publicity though. Also, FIFA's release was moved up a week to accomodate MMA, which hits October 19th.

Stay tuned to pnosker.com for your tech news and reviews as well as an advance review of NCAA Football 11 for Xbox 360 at the end of the week.
