Madden and FIFA coming to Facebook

Matthew Torino May 8, 2010 0

EA Sports head Peter Moore has announced that FIFA will join Madden on Facebook. EA is hoping to reach the same market that’s provided success for Farmville and Mafia Wars.

Moore had previously announced in February that Madden would be coming in some form to Facebook while on Bloomberg TV. EA recently acquired Playfish, a company known for making games specifically for platforms like Facebook and they will be developing this form of Madden along with the newly announced FIFA Superstars.

Moore described FIFA Superstars as some sort of combination of EA’s football smarts and experience with the social networking aspects of Facebook. No details on the game were announced yet but Moore said to expect some in the future obviously prior to release.

The games will both be free to play on Facebook, as are Farmville and Mafia Wars, but like those, they will be funded by microtransactions within the game involving real money. It has not been announced what these will entail, but we should expect some kind of announcement in the future.
