After previously announcing that ESPN would be more involved in the presentation and audio of NCAA Football 11, EA has finally gotten more specific in their plans. Also, EA’s made a change with their cover philosophy, naming Tim Tebow coverboy for all platforms.
Menus, scorebars and replay wipes will all be emblazoned with ESPN College Football logos and even the famous theme music for College Gameday has made it into the game. However, there hasn’t been any news on anything regarding the actual Saturday Gameday show or studio shows making an appearance in the game. It’s unfortunate but after CBS and ESPN’s integration in the now defunct NCAA Basketball Series, it’s clearly a step in the right direction.
EA’s full blog posting on the presentation is here
Also, ending a recent trend, EA named former Florida QB and all around beloved man cover athlete of NCAA 11 on all platforms. Previously different players had been on the cover of each different platform, with Michael Crabtree and Brian Johnson gracing the covers of NCAA 10 for the Xbox 360 and PS3 respectively. It’s not known whether EA just thought Tebow was marketable enough or the previous diversity campaign had failed.
ESPN’s interview with Tebow can be found here. And Kotaku’s information on Tebow gracing all the covers is located here.
