The first Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 information has been released and the game’s looking bigger and better. The logo for the game is below along with a possible cover incorporating the logo that Kotaku believes could be the game’s eventual cover.
Even though many developers and executives left better-Call-of-Duty-developer Infinity Ward recently, the third edition of Modern Warfare is scheduled to be released later this year. Raven Software and Sledgehammer games are helping the remodeled Infinity Ward in development for Activision’s game.
Modern Warfare 3 will continue along the same story involving the nuclear explosion at the end of the second game. There’s supposed to be a “world in crisis” feel that will distinguish it from the rest of the series. Captains John “Soap” MacTavish and John Price will return to the story though it’s unknown whether the Russian informant Nikolai will as well after they killed Shepherd.
The end of the story will eventually take more of a world view with conflicts expanding to other parts of the globe that could culminate in a World War III scenario for the presumable fourth game.
Destructible environments and larger maps will be the biggest gameplay improvements in an otherwise stellar game coming out this fall and will be seen by pnosker.com at E3 2011 in Los Angeles.
