Green Bay Packers vs. New Orleans Saints to Open NFL Season; 2011 NFL Schedule Released

The Green Bay Packers, led by quarterback Aaron Rodgers, will start their defense of their Super Bowl XLV title this year by opening in primetime against the New Orleans Saints on September 8th, 2011. The New York Jets and Giants are playing on September 11th to open their season. Too bad there’s a lockout and you’ll probably have to do this in Madden 12 manually.

The Jets and Giants will both open on 9/11 which will mark the tragedy’s 10th anniversary. While there probably won’t be any classic moments like Mike Piazza’s home run in Shea Stadium following the attacks, hopefully the Jets and Giants, one of the most classless and possibly the classiest organizations respectively, will be able to put on quite the remembrance for those tragic events.

Whether or not the NFL will have a season is much in doubt though with the NFL Players Association pitted against the ruthless owners like Jerry Richardson and Bob Kraft both holding their ground. And that’s where Madden comes in. You can view the entire NFL schedule here that features such as gems as the Bears at Lambeau to face the Packers on Christmas, which should be quite the event, and of course the Thanksgiving games.

You’re probably at this rate going to have to play Madden NFL 12 to make these games happen as the outlook on a 2011 season is not exactly rosy. While it would be a lot of effort to make up your own schedule and implement it into Madden, if there’s no NFL season, what else are you going to do on Sundays? Watch soccer? If you answered yes, that’s sick.

But with Madden being one of the most realistic games out there, it may be your only choice in seeing these games happen. I hope there’s a 2011 NFL season but if not, we’ll always have Madden.
