Here's the newest edition of the sports gaming digest after a 2 week layoff thanks to extended play of NCAA 11. So this week there's news on the Madden 11 demo, the 2nd biggest football game hitting the shelves and what to expect in terms of sports games in Fall 2010.
NCAA Football 11 from EA hit shelves last week, finally ushering in the new season of sports games (unless you count Tiger Woods). The game is receiving very good reviews. Read our review on pnosker.com to see what's new in this year's game.
EA has announced the next Fight Night game: "Fight Night Champion" featuring Manny Pacquiao though little info has been released about the game. We'll have more info as it becomes available through the fall.
Tiger Woods 11 sales have been horrendous, much like UFC's, so far. Last year it was a top 5 game for June while this year it's not on the charts. Whether this has to do with the economy or a poor perception of Woods is unknown.
In NBA news, EA Sports leader Peter Moore says that having Michael Jordan on the cover of NBA 2K11 won't matter in the long run. Yeah Peter, they're already beating you down in sales, so how much more can it happen?
Alabama Crimson Tide fans have made their own special custom cover of NCAA 11 featuring Tim Tebow crying during the SEC title game loss to Bama. The image is the one at the top of the page and the full article is here.
Pastapadre has the list of songs in NHL 11 and NHL Slapshot, much of which are the same. They've also got a nice screenshot of Tyler Seguin of the Boston Bruins.
And finally the Madden 11 demo will arrive on July 27th featuring the Jets and Colts. It will have full five minute quarters, as opposed to the 2 minute jobs in the NCAA demo and Madden traditionally. Sliders and difficulty can be adjusted as well, marking a first for a Tiburon demo.
