Xbox 360 Sales Grow

Sales for the Microsoft Corporation’s Xbox360 rose more than 20% in October compared to the same month in 2010.  Although the 360 is a mature product, the introduction of the Kinect technology and games such as the newly released Modern Warfare 3 have helped to keep this system attractive for video gamers.

The Xbox360 is the #1 console holding 44% of the market share for current-generation for the console market.  Consumers spent $490 million on the 360 platform, which is also the most for any console in the U.S.

David Dennis, a spokesman from Microsoft stated “We feel great about this.  It’s a great kick-off and benchmark for the holidays to get us started.”

Of the top ten console games being sold, the 360 held six of them: Battlefield 3, Batman: Arkham City, NBA 2K12, Rage, Forza Motorsport 4, and Gears of War 3.

Being a PC gamer, I do not own any of the current gen systems…..but if I had to buy a new console (Xbox360, PS3, or Wii) I would have chosen the 360.  Although the PS3 has better graphics and the Wii was ahead of the game in movement controllers, the overall appeal of the 360 is that everyone I know has one (so I can play with them) and the 360 seems to have the greatest variety of games.
