It’s been a few days since Apple released its iOS 5.0.1 upgrade, and so far users are not seeing the promised battery life fix. iPhone customers have been posting in the Apple Forums about continuing to have battery life problems even after upgrading to iOS 5.0.1. One user wrote:
“Installed the new IOS 5.0.1 two hours ago. I started a test at 1:30 CT today. 5% battery drain in 45 minutes with WIFI and location services turned on and me not touching the Iphone 4S. The new update doesn’t seem to help much.”
Other users are claiming the update made the battery life even worse.
“Updated to 5.0.1 last night and my battery life seems even worse than before! My phone dropped by 4% overnight in flight mode! I have had it out of flight mode since 6.30am (at which time the battery was at 51%), and its now 8.30am and its down to 35%.”
From my own personal testing, I have not seen any improvement in battery life, and I also may now actually have even worse battery life, but I’ll need a few more days before I can say with certainty. Perhaps the battery life problems (especially with the new iPhone 4S) really are hardware problems, which would be a major headache for Apple.
Battery in my 4s lasted all day until I installed the 5.0.1 update… Today ive made 2 calls each under 5 minutes, and battery life is already at 60%
