Google Fiber on its Way to Kansas City

Matthew Torino March 30, 2011 0

Remember when, for a day, Topeka, Kansas changed its name to Google, Kansas to attract the company to launch part of its Google Fiber network in their state? Well it looks like that move actually paid off. Google took notice and is launching part of their network in Kansas City, Kansas. After Google said their goal with the fiber network was to "bring it to your front door" they're making progress now. However, Google apparently found Kansas City more appealing than Topeka to build its fiber network as they believe they can build efficiently and develop strong relationships within the community. Kansas City, not the one in Missouri you're probably more familiar with, has a more small town feel than capital city Topeka and should provide Google with what it wants. The network should be launched in Kansas City, Kansas by 2012.
