Daily Gaming Wrap Up:December 16th

jmaltz@pnosker.com December 16, 2010 0

To describe today's daily gaming wrap up as a heaping helping of gaming info would be an understatement. Today there were more trailers of Mindjack, a look at the first New Vegas DLC and so much more.

Occasionally described as the "ultimate troll game", Mindjack offers players the opportunity to hack into other players single player campaigns in order to mess with their experiences.  However, this power can also be used for good, by advancing your own character through hacking other in-game characters. Square Enix released a trailer today that shows the different types of characters you can turn to your side when the game releases.

Mindjack will launch in January of next year on the Xbox 360 and PS3.

With the release of the first set of DLC for New Vegas just on the horizon, Bethesda has released a new trailer to set the story for the Dead Money expansion.  Unlike many trailers, it actually sets the mood exceptionally well and gives you a substantial peek at some of the new enemies you'll be fighting.

Rockstar has long been known for its technical excellence, and LA Noire looks to be no exception.  Today the acclaimed developer released a video that describes the motionscan technology they use to capture facial expressions.  If you're interested in the technical side of video games it's fascinating stuff.

Shift 2 Unleashed might not boast the absurd number of cars that GT5 does, but should you pre-order the newly announced Limited Edition, that number will grow three closer.  Players who pick this version up will get the Silvia spec.R Aero (S15), the Alfa Romeo Giulietta QV, and the Lamborghini Murciélago LP640.

The simulation counterpart to Hot Pursuit will release, Autolog and all, in Spring 2011.

It's been out for a while now, but some gamers (me included) have not had the time to experience the highest rated XBLA game of all time, Castle Crashers. If that's the case there are really no more excuses.  Today the behemoth announced that their 2D side-scroller has received a holiday drop in price down to 600 MSP.  So, do yourself a favor and pick it up as an early Christmas gift to yourself between December 21st and December 31st.

Hothead games, the developers of Swarm, a pikmin style puzzle platformer, have released a set of three new developer diaries that give insight into a number of different parts of development.  Not only are some of them actually humorous, but they also give good insight into the process of making a game enjoyable.  First up, there is one on integrating humor into a game.

The second one shows you what life is like at Hothead games and how they are working to fight communism
.

The last is an examination of the ecosystem of a developer.

Swarm will be coming out on XBLA and PSN early in 2011

Yesterday TimeGate announced that they will be selling the second game in the Section 8 series, Prejudice for only $14.99.  Along with that news, they have also released a pretty funny trailer that shows the news spreading like wildfire throughout the world.  If you're in the market for gameplay footage this one is a miss, but if you can appreciate some humor it's worth a look.

Prejudice will be available in Q1 of next year for Xbox 360, PC, and PS3 via digital distribution.
